5 Things to consider while decorating for Christmas.

It's that time of year again! snow on the ground, temperatures dropping, string lights everywhere, it's my favorite time of the year. Of course, there is more to Christmas than decorations and the festivities. Decorating makes this season magical and so enjoyable. Here are some things you should consider when decorating this year...

1. HAVE A GAME PLAN.
Decorating your space can seem overwhelming. Wait, who am I kidding? It is overwhelming. So many colors and ideas to choose from, how can someone choose? You must! Decide ahead of time what colors you want to use and what theme you are going for. This will eliminate unnecessary spending and much headache. I actually planned colors for the different rooms in my house. My living room is more colorful yet traditional and the kitchen has elements of red in different areas. My room has a red and black lumberjack feel to it. It may seem a bit "manly" but I don't care, it feels Christmasy. PLAN, PLAN, PLAN.

2. CHECK YOUR INVENTORY.
This is a money saver when decorating for Christmas. Who wants to buy the same items every year? Not this girl, we got goals, honey. Check through your stash to make sure you have what you need first. Before I went out to buy anything I made sure I knew exactly what I had. Also, once I was set on the colors, I knew what I needed to get. This saved me time and money in the long run and we are all about the savings around here.

3. SALES AND DOLLAR TREE!
Y'all, everything I purchased this year was on SALE! Hobby Lobby has 50% off Holiday decor and the Dollar Tree has some great little things you can buy. I actually got my ornaments from Dollar Tree and I love them. Don't knock it until you try it! You don't have to spend an arm and a leg on decorations for your home to look elegant and festive. Shop around and be patient. Walmart has some great stuff for less as well!

4. THE PURGE.
you know that garland you bought two years ago? The one you always say you will use and never do? Yeah, that one, get rid of it! lol. No for real, getting rid of what is no longer your style makes room for the new stuff. Because honestly, we are always buying new stuff every year. Purging every holiday season makes the task less daunting when done in small increments.

5. THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS...
I do this possibly every year and that is shopping for decorations after Christmas is over. The sales are ridiculous, like 60% - 75% off! I already have a theme for next year and I am eyeing ornaments and other fun decorations for next year. We prepare out here ok! Check out Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and Joannes for all of your Christmas 2020 needs. HAHA.

I hope your Christmas decorating was full of fun memories and if you still haven't started, there is still some time. Not much but you can still get some festive decor up before Christmas. Enjoy the holidays!
