Sister Style: Gabrielle

by Beautifies The Meek, 8:12 PM
Hey Y'all! This is a new segment to the blog where I will interview other ladies who rock modesty well. The sisters at my church are VERY stylish and I think y'all will benefit from their style as much as I do. I hope you enjoy.

MEET…

GABRIELLE

1. Who are you? share a little bit about yourself.

24 Liberian American holy rolling fashionista. Random, Sassy, Spicy, Classy. I have a consuming passion and relentless love for 3 things: God, Art, and Serving People. I am enamored by powerful music, excellent food, good books, and warm hugs. I've spent the past 10 years doing community development and service work, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I mentor, tutor, teach, facilitate workshops, dance, act, paint, sing, blog, and I writes stuffs (and perform it). I serve faithfully at New Life Church in Central Falls, RI!

2Is it important to dress modestly? if so why?

Modesty is essential. I think to understand it's significance, you have to understand that modesty begins long before you put on clothes.
Every time I get dressed, I am reminded of who I am and Whose I am. This body does not belong to me and it is a billboard. What am I advertising? I am challenged with asking myself, "What is my intention when wearing this?". If the reason lacks integrity or intention to glorify God...it's not worth wearing. How we dress does not define who we are, but it indeed reflects who we are.

3. How does your style reflect your relationship with Christ?

I am a fearfully, wonderfully made art loving Daughter of the King. I think my style reflects that. I am expressive and unique in my fashion because I am an expressive and unique piece of artwork, made by my Father's hands! Also, I try to present myself well because if I am a royal priesthood, and if I am highly valued..I should dress the part, right? And if I truly believe I am valuable, I should carry myself that way. I believe I should be an example. I hope that's what people see and I hope it speaks to my relationship with Jesus. I want Him to be in everything I do.

4. What does modesty mean to you?

Modesty is a heart matter. It impacts every area of your life, and dress just happens to be one of them. It is a conviction about living a life that is Christ centered and thrives on submission to Him. It is a constant contradiction to the self glorifying mentality that plagues modern culture. Modesty is an outward expression of an internal intentional decision to honor yourself, your God, and those around you.

5.  how would you describe your personal style?

This is HARD because I feel my style involves so many things, and it is ever evolving. I think it is creative, colorful, chic, and retro. Sometimes more classic. Sometimes more quirky.

6. When traveling what are 3 most important things you must pack?
OH THIS IS HARD! need my spanks. I love my spanks. I believe in my spanks.
I guarantee you unless I'm working missions, I will HAVE TO HAVE at least one pair of HEELS! (Lord bless the shoes!)
(spanks, and a good bra that is) and 3...I can't think of a 3rd one, but if I have pumps and good "armor", the rest isn't too hard to work around.

Thank you Gabrielle for your time!
check out her blog while you get the chance!

I hope you were inspired and encouraged to glorify God with your style.
